Jan Kodet

Czech choreographer, dancer and pedagogue. Graduate of the Dance Department at AMU (1991). He danced with international companies (Dance Berlin, S.O.A.P. Dance Theatre Frankfurt, Ballet Gulbenkian), working with choreographers such as Ohad Naharin, Nacho Duato and especially Rui Horta, whose assistant he became.

He teaches choreography at HAMU and modern dance technique in the Czech Republic and abroad (Frankfurt, Barcelona, Stockholm, etc.). For over 20 years he was ballet master of the National Theatre Ballet, and since 2019 has been a mentor in the MenART program.

As a choreographer he has created successful projects: Lola & Mr.Talk (Theatre Newspaper Award 2003–2004), Camoufl.AGE (Theatre Newspaper Award 2009), Zlatovláska, The Little Mermaid, Bon Appetite (National Theatre Prague). He has long-term collaborations with the directing duo SKUTR (A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Romeo and Juliet, The Tempest) and director Jiří Heřman on opera productions (Rusalka, Parsifal, Faust and Marguerite, etc.). For Laterna magika he created Argonauts and Human Locomotion, and for the revolving auditorium Egon Schiele-Self-portrait. In 2026 he filmed the series This is Dance! for ČTart.
